The Vernon Chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association has been a long standing part of our local community, offering direct service to those who are coping with learning disabilities of various types. Ours is a community-based group, consisting of those who know the difficulties of learning problems first-hand, and the need to assist others in their time of need.  We also assist adults who are learning disabled with accessing appropriate resources for further education or job upgrading.

The Vernon Women’s Centre Legal Advocacy Program provides legal information, support, referrals, and representation to people in Vernon and outlying rural communities. Our Legal Advocate works with government agencies and other service providers to ensure that men & women have access to housing, financial supports, legal and mental health resources, and are treated fairly in their interactions with government, the courts, and the community. May be able to refer clients for will preparation. The Legal Information and Advocacy Program is open: Monday - Wednesday (for women only) at the Vernon Women's Centre 9:30am - 12:00 and 1:00 - 4:00 pm Thursday (open to everyone) at the North Okanagan Youth & Family Services (NOYFS) 9:30 am - 12:00 and 1:00 - 4:00 pm Services include Income Assistance (refusals, reconsideration requests, health benefits, appeals, disabilities, daycare, other) and Landlord/Tenant (security deposits, rent increases, eviction notices, other)

Limber Yoga provides one-on-one yoga instruction as well as Thai yoga/massage sessions and personal training to individuals wanting to increase their flexibility, improve their fitness levels, or educate themselves on the benefits of physical fitness, yoga, energy work and healing. Prices of these sessions range from $35-$75, depending on the service and length of time of a session.  A Thai massage,for example is 2-2.5 hours long, whereas personal training and yoga classes range from 1-1.5 hours long.

Limber Yoga also provides group yoga classes on a regular basis.  Classes can be designed and scheduled for a group in an office setting, a sports team, or any community group wanting to experience yoga.  Group yoga classes are generally 8 weeks in length, but one time classes are also offered for special events based on the request.  Call 558-9835 for details on how to arrange a class suitable for your group.

Limber Yoga teaches a variety of styles of yoga, from integrative yoga therapy, hatha yoga, and astanga (power)yoga classes. Dawn Lasby, principle instructor of these classes has over 16 years experience bringing health and wellness to the community.  5% of all proceeds for Limber Yoga are donated back to charity, as Dawn has a strong sense of community, having worked in the non-profit industry for over 10 years.
