Live Happy Counselling is a place for individuals to access counselling in an atmosphere of tranquility and respect. People can access counselling at Live Happy for a wide range of psychological, emotional and life issues including: post-traumatic stress, anxiety, anger, depression; Complex post-traumatic stress responses (including flashbacks, dissociation, intrusive thoughts, hypervigilence); Violence (including psychological, physical, sexual abuse); Childhood experiences of abuse, abandonment, neglect; Loss; Concurrent Disorders (such as addiction and mental illness); Life transitions and personal growth (including self-esteem, boundaries, self-care); Relationship Difficulties (including communication and assertiveness, separation and divorce, parenting, neglect, abandonment) Susan's approach to counselling is guided by the unique needs of each client, believing that each individual is the expert of his or her own experience. Accordingly, Susan strives to work collaboratively with individuals, assisting them in identifying and working towards their own goals and purpose for counselling. Susan respects the values, strengths, and resources of each individual, because all people have the capacity for resiliency, self-determination, and self-growth. With roots in an anti-violence framework, Susan’s therapeutic foundations originate from psychodynamic theory. Therapeutic approaches depend on client needs and include Mind-Body Attunement Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, narrative therapy, solution focused therapy, and cognitive-behaviour therapy. Our program is designed to provide outpatient counselling to First Nations people of the North Okanagan and surrounding area. The addictions counsellor will help you to examine your
individual situation and help match you to appropriate services. To develop individualized treatment plans we use a holistic approach based on the medicine wheel.

To provide services which empower First Nations people to achieve personal wellness through avoidance or reduction of the misuse of alcohol and other drugs and their harmful effects
