Gallery Vertigo is a non-profit community art gallery that provides exhibition space for innovative and emerging artists in the North Okanagan. As a part of the North Okanagan Aritists Alternative (N.O.A.A.), the gallery is the first Artist Run Centre in this area. There are six studio artists that create work from the gallery and over 100 members in theN.O.A.A. The gallery space also houses two exhibition galleries, a workshop room, and a resource room geared towards professional development for artists. Programming includes literary arts and musical eventsas well as a regular schedule of exhibitions of visual art and art related workshops.

We also offer a problem gambling support group weekly at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Drop-ins are welcome.

Hours: 7 days a week 24 hours

The shelter is open to men and women who are at least 19 years old and who are homeless, transient, or temporarily in need of accomodation. Everyone who stays at the shelter receives Breakfast, lunch and dinner served at the nearby Upper Room Mission. Services: shower facilities, a laundry room, TV and small library. Telephone for local calls (10:00am to 4:00pm). Licensed and insured vehicles can be parked in our parking lot. Secure bike storage outside.

Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada is the largest organization for girls and women in Canada, with over 160,000 Members - over 130,000 girls and over 28,000 adults. Guides Canada welcomes girls 5-17+ years old and women over 18 to be part of the following groups:

Good Food Box

The Good Food Box is a volunteer-run, non-profit, produce-buying cooperative for those people who find it difficult to stretch their food dollars to include fresh fruits and vegetables. Each $12.00 Good Food Box contains approximately $24.00 worth of fresh fruit and vegetables, purchased from local farmers when possible. People place their orders and pay the $15.00 by the second Wednesday of the month; boxes are available for pick up on the following Thursday (i.e., the third Thursday of the month).  Delivery is an option in the Vernon area for an additional cost of $3.00 per box.

The program currently operates in Vernon, Armstrong, Lumby, Enderby Westside and Falkland. Call the following numbers to find out the distribution points in each community:

In Vernon, orders can be placed at Interior Health, Family Resource Centre, North Okanagan Youth and Family Services, Salvation Army Food Bank, First Nation's Friendship Centre, Canadian Mental Health Association, Vernon Women's Centre, Vernon Alliance Church, Vernon Health Unit and at the Boy's and Girl's Club. Pick up is at All Saint's Anglican Church or (by prior notice) the Knox Presbyterian Church.
