The SAFER Program provides direct cash assistance to eligible residents of British Columbia who are age 60 or over and who pay rent for their homes. If you are eligible and pay more than 30% of your total income for rent, and are not receiving income assistance, SAFER may reimburse you for a part of the rent that is over 30% of your income. The reimbursement is calculated to give the most assistance to people with the least income.
